  • This has to be the definitive performance.

  • I actually prefer Fritz Wunderlichs rendition. But as far as sopranos are concerned I agree with you.

  • Für meinen Geschmack zu viel portamento, die Diktion ist auch eher schlunzig. Paßt gar nicht zu ihr wenn man bedenkt, wie sie teils die Teilnehmer ihrer Meisterklassen niedergemacht hat....

  • GANZ MEINE MEINUNG! Habe das nur der "Wunderlich" Aufnahme gegenübergestellt. Höre (und siehe) dort.

  • Thank you all for your encouraging coments.

I try to match music an picture, without preference for either.

  • There are some very real intonation issues here . . . (consistently flat--refer to the suspended G1 at 3:06, but there are many examples beyond this). I love the chromaticism at this point where the G7 resolves into the B Maj, which becomes a leading tone chord into a C 7th: none of which the audience really expects, but is nicely prepared all the same . . . Anyway, very nice Strauss!

  • first time hearing this, amazing

  • @jogejoge11 if you have the acid at home, use it!!! don't bother me!

  • @newhotmailit HAVE YOUR EARS CLEANED. i HAVE SULFURIC ACID AT HOME, THAT MAY THEM A LITTLE CLEANER

  • La meilleure version de "MORGEN" à mon avis, encore à nos jours...

Concernant sa diction en allemand, je la comprends TRES bien: elle est digne de son passé glorieux.

  • don't like it, the diction is bad and even the notes are not pure enough

  • @meredith21846

no-one touches this performance Not even her friend Christa Ludwig She has placed her entire existence in this recording

  • Not half as good as Irmgard Seefried...

  • i like fischer-diskau's version, but this is amazing

  • This was regarded as the standard performance for many years and is still one of the finest. Wunderlich is of course excellent,as he always is, but it was written for a soprano, Strauss's favourite medium.
