At the time, it did look like it might have been, but talks collapsed.

It may now not be a question about whether there will be a 2012/2013 NHL season, but whether the NHL will ever play another game.

It's possible that the NHL's next annoumcement would not just announce a cancellation of the entire season, but that the NHL itself might be dissolved.

If that's the case, another attempt will be made to start a new major pro jhockey league, but it might begin play until October, 2014.
