Accounting for less than 13% of Ecuador's cacao production, Nacional has been in competition with new varieties that respond well to insecticides, chemical fertilisers and produce higher yields - despite inferior quality and flavour. This film is a look at what is being done to save Ecuador's finest cacao.

  • Thank you. I'll try it.

  • We're no longer working on cacao, but INIAP is on the cutting edge of research and innovation. I suggest you contact them. Good luck!

  • I would like to colaborate with this. We work under tropical forest and agroforestry is our job. Cacao is our basic element. We are a group of small farmers in Brasil. We cannot plant millions of trees because we work under existing forest, but there's a lot of plots to recover. Knowledge exchange? Please see our amateur videos "pimenta damata". I'd be grateful for a feedback.
