Heavy snowfall missed the Kansas City area Thursday but it hit in mid-Missouri.
The snow moved in at about 2 p.m. and high wands caused white-out conditions.
"More (snow) than we expected, actually," resident Steve Hardin said. "We were only supposed to get an inch, and that doesn't look like an inch to me."
Missouri Highway Patrol asked drivers to avoid the Johnson County area because of low visibility. Highway 13 north of Warrensburg was closed for a while.
Troopers said drivers should not go on the roads unless absolutely necessary.
"Had a bus go off in a ditch. I'm supposed to take my nephews home. I'm hoping it's clear by now," Hardin told KMBC's Dan Weinbaum.
