Just saw this movie finally. Once again Spielberg has succeeded in interpreting a beautiful story about hope, resiliency and ultimately triumph in the most horrific of situations. In the world we live in today (one of inane, childish and crude entertainment) this movie stands as an invigorating reminder that there are things that really matter, things that elevate us to our best possibilities.

Anyone who read Michael Morpurgo's book would be hugely disappointed in what Spielberg's screenwriters did to the story - the only resemblance to the book (which is terrific) is the title, and that the story includes a horse, and the first World War. Plus, as Micheline Kribs notes, anyone who knows anything about horses knows horses do NOT jump over tanks, etc. To see how to take a story about a horse, from the 'horses' mouth, and make a movie, watch Carol Thompson's Black Beauty (1994)

I saw this movie in 2012. I agree with rr7firefly1, The one scene where they put that gray horse in front to pull the wagon, well, anybody who knows anything about horses, knew that horse wasn't bred to pull. This is my second favorite horse movie,behind secratariet. Micheline Kribs,Rolla,MO

My brother knows a man that has a neighbour with a horse. He called the horse Brad Pitt and he rides it nice and hard every night. One night the tables turned and the horse sodomised the man throughout the night. He split he's hole in two and now that man walks like John Wayne (& smells like John west). People say he walks like that because he rides a horse but little do they know it's coz HE was rode by a horse. That horse rode the hole clean off him.. rightly so too
