At around 2:23 they mention it will be year round. UNless you are talking about something different.

The design looks quite attractive, but it seems that by trying to make it something for everyone, they're not going to make it into something that could be a real ice hockey facility, I don't even see a place for a zamboni... But, I hope I'm wrong.

Really looking forward to Lakeside finally opening. But I have to say I'm quite disappointed that it is not going to be a year round ice facility. I thought that was the original intention. Also, with it being as open as it is, I think that even in the winter the ice is going to be less than ideal (as was the case with the old rink). With winters getting warmer and warmer, it's going to take a lot of energy just to keep it frozen to a decentn extent.

in the summer the rink will be for rollerskating and the smaller one will be a water play area.

Is the hockey rink supposed to be a "four-season" facility? From the 3D model in the video it looks like there is no way you can keep it open in the summer because a) there are no walls to insulate from heat, and b) it is attached to the "water feature" that will be a fountain in the summer & melt the ice. Is this the final design? I agree with k1n1arpot's comment that an ice rink design expert should be consulted, and that parking is needed because of heavy hockey bags being carried.

No, just a true Brooklyn New Yorker. Never been to the Statue of Liberty either. Growing up in Canarsie on the south side of Brooklyn, never brought me up that way much. Unless it was passing the park on Command Bus.

Also, there must be ample parking adjacent to the rink.

Sorry to say that these architects appear to know nothing, zippo, about ice rink construction or design. The rink in the schematic picture looks way too small, and the connecting circular section could be a disaster on a crowded day. The rink must have dimensions and shape sufficient for hockey games and practice sessions, speed skating races and general recreational skating sessions. First confer with an ice rink design expert and then come back with a funding request.
