Professor Brian Schmidt describes his passion for astronomy and and gives his own views on science as a career path.

He is based at the Australian National University, Canberra - one of the six nodes of CAASTRO, the ARC Centre of Excellence for All-sky Astrophysics. He won the 2011 Nobel Prize in Physics for his discovery that the Universe is expanding at an ever-increasing rate. In CAASTRO, he leads the "Dark Universe" theme that pursues to answer the question:

What are the Dark Energy and Dark Matter that dominate the cosmos?
