Leftist activists and musicians from MANIC STREET PREACHERS wrote in 1999 this beautiful song dedicate to INTERNATIONAL BRIGADISTS, young common people who changed shooting rabbits at the country side for shooting fascists in the battlefields of Spain, where DEMOCRACY was a concern of all the human kind.
"If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next"
The future teaches you to be alone
The present to be afraid and cold
So if I can shoot rabbits
Then I can shoot fascists

Bullets for your brain today
But we'll forget it all again
Monuments put from pen to paper
Turns me into a gutless wonder

And if you tolerate this
Then your children will be next
And if you tolerate this
Then your children will be next
Will be next
Will be next
Will be next

Gravity keeps my head down
Or is it maybe shame
At being so young and being so vain

Holes in your head today
But I'm a pacifist
I've walked La Ramblas
But not with real intent

And if you tolerate this
Then your children will be next
And if you tolerate this
Then your children will be next
Will be next
Will be next
Will be next
Will be next

And on the street tonight an old man plays
With newspaper cuttings of his glory days

And if you tolerate this
Then your children will be next
And if you tolerate this
Then your children will be next
Will be next
Will be next
Will be next

  • come on barcelona! fuck franco and madrid!

  • @peterkirk123 you mean all the people in Madrid is fascist? THEN FUCK YOU BASTARD!!! Viva la República

  • this is a very nice song in many ways but the truth is that the only way spanish republic could have won the war is with the help of the major democratic european powers of that time, UK and France, and they did not help the spanish republic couse of is erratic behaviour towards comunism , wich was also a cause that the spanish military (mainly from catholic and wealthy families ) started the "revolutionary" war to change the republic into a military fascist despotism. is not easy as bad vs good

  • @MARCUO your comment is not accurate at all: Spanish Rpublic had only 2 communists at teh parliment when Franco rised against it. Don't believe in conservative propaganda. Search for data: Spanish Republica was quite much as French one at that time with Leon Blum: both were ruled by a popular front that was not mainly communist at all, it was kind of socialdemocrat coalition with a small presence of a small communist party.

Communist party became hughe AFTER the rebelion, in the war.

  • @peterkirk123 Hhaa Barcelona is a dirty shithole full of criminals. It was beautiful 20 years ago. But now its like the Bronx. Well sorry i think even the Bronx has more culture than that couple of catalans left in Barcelona.

  • this song has new meaning under the oppression of the "anti-racist" establishment as it continues to force its ill-conceived premise to be true by allowing for savage treatment against white people and all that is good.

  • @FAEMINOSMITH ahi estás tú... y yo contigo ;))

  • All in Turkey! New mussolini, new hitler, neofascist government..

  • @peterkirk123 You have no fucking idea what are you talking about.

  • Scumbags

  • @Curroceren The key, under my point of view, is the emergence of stalinism and anarchy, and many left wings ways at the same time of the emergence of facism and radical left wing. All this in the same country. Left gave the minimum excuses to Right to raise up against their own people.

  • @FAEMINOSMITH Comunist and anarquy behavior, before the war starts, din't make easier to stop the facist. Azaña tried in many ways to stop the tension, was a great politician, but it was imposible. There was a stalinism influence in spanish comunist, and "Pasionaria" was a good example. There is some true in Marcuo comment, but is true, as well, that the fight from USA and others countries against comunist make this country to ignore the freedom of people and countries to choose.
