NASA SPACECRAFT SEES ICE ON MARS EXPOSED BY METEOR IMPACTS JPL (NEW) New findings about frozen water hiding just below the surface of mid-latitude Mars come from a NASA mission using quick-response observations obtained from orbit after meteorites excavated fresh craters in the planet.
Scientists controlling instruments on NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter found bright ice exposed at five Martian sites with new craters. Some punched right through a thin layer of bright ice to darker underlying material.
