I was doing this with my group tonight. We tried killing the turrets some attempts, ignoring them and focusing on the boss in others. After a while, he would hit for over 14k in one hit, that's with static barrier on someone. As a healer, there was nothing I could do. I'm thinking we just didn't have enough DPS, because we had 2 tanks.

Could be, he does enrage after some time. Watch for the buff he gets (red glowing head).

there's no way, that freaking backstab is insane. Even if you break his stealth with aoe someone will just blow up.
My healer couldn't throw out enough heals to get the person who got hit for 8k, back up to above 8k hp before the second hit came in. There has to be some sort of mechanic to it.

Just noticed today that you can use your ability to get out of stuns on the 2nd time he stuns you. The first one isn't possible to get out of. If you time it right you won't get the 2nd hit.

Also apparently if you spam aoe abilities when he goes stealth you can uncover him and he won't do that ninja hit.
