Watch Burnaby Mayor Derek Corrigan's rousing speech at the Spirit of Sustainability rally to stop the BC Ministry of Transportation's multi-billion dollar highway megaplan: the Gateway Project. Sept 29, 2007 at the Unitarian Church of Vancouver.
He just wants any chance he can get to mindlessly bast whatever the Liberals do. I'm sure he would oppose them if they started handing out $100 bills to random people on the street in Burnaby...
Gateway, the Canada Line, and the Olympics can't come soon enough! (All of which Corrigan opposes)
What I find interesting is that Mayor Corrigan was in favor of the widening of Hwy 1 in the 90's (coincidently when the NDP were in power). Now that the BC liberals are in power he is against it. He was also against the building of the Canada Line (although it would take cars off the road and be fast and efficient!) He is against road improvements and he is against rapid transit....hmmmm? What does he stand for...? He loves buses but aren't they on the same clogged roads as the cars? Baffling!
