@sn1pe352 I saw some of the other videos and it is a good idea! For engrish speakers, click the links on the right from the DST Group to see the practical implementation. It's for tapping streams, rivers and run off. All it needs is a concrete bowl casting in place and the impeller going on a gantry overhead. Nice and simple.
@lexichronicle2 It's not only much more efficient than most water wheel designs, but it also is beneficial to river systems (Please research the original thinker-inventor of this technology) Viktor Schauberger
Damns are ecological destruction devices, this device is constructive and beneficial :D
Is there some weird optical illusion happening here?
The vortex is spinning anti-clockwise. So the rotor should do so as well if it's being driven by it. Yet it appears to be going clockwise.
Then if I look at the top of it, that IS going anti-clockwise. Since it's connected to the blades, they must also be going anti-clockwise. If I stare at it, the rotation of the blades reverses.
Tolle Idee.
i just clicked on it because of the long ass name.

Anyone else see that?

The German translates to, gravitation water vortex power plant.
Rather than putting a turbine in an outlet tube, he's letting the water drain out and using the vortex to turn his blades.
I don't think that'd be efficient for a huge damn where the height can produce a huge amount of pressure, but maybe for smaller heights?
It's also a lot more simple, no pressurised pipe or sealed turbines.
