Blake is putting on her best dress and finest perfume in anticipation of Ross' homecoming. But Jeffrey delivers the awful news - Ross' plane crashed. There were no survivors. Blake refuses to believe it, but first Holly, then Dinah arrive to force her to deal with reality. Blake's state of mind isn't helped when Dinah - projecting her own issues about Harley and Mallet - guesses that the woman traveling with Ross, his assistant, was also his mistress. Blake slaps her stepdaughter. Then, Blake slips out to meet Alan-Michael. Blake wants to know why her ex-husband was scheduled to meet with her current husband several times over the past month. Alan-Michael claims it was just business, but under Blake's questioning allows her to drag it out of him that he thought Ross and his assistant, Nikki, were having an affair. Later, Dinah comes to apologize and begs Blake not to cut her off - her half-siblings are all that Dinah has left of her father. Blake confesses that Dinah may have been right about Ross and Nikki. Later, all of Springfield comes out to eulogize their former DA and mayor. Reverend Rutledge delivers the eulogy, quoting his grandfather, the original Reverend Rutledge. Lizzie is deeply upset about losing "Uncle Ross" and tells Buzz that she can't do this again. Rick talks about Ross and Ed's longtime friendship, Vanessa remembers her first love, Alan recalls how much both he and Ross loved Phillip, Holly notes his always being there for her, Dinah laments the years they missed together while Blake can barely get through the first sentence without collapsing into tears. . Later, however, when the press tries to crash his wake at Company, Blake pulls herself together to tell the reporters what a wonderful man her husband was. And to add that she plans to run and fill his spot as mayor. As the wake continues, Blake goes home and starts investigating Ross and Nikki. Jeffrey tries to convince her the rumors are unsubstantiated, then casually mentions that her opponent in the mayoral race will be...him. Meanwhile, Alan-Michael pulls out a mysterious file labeled "Nicole Landers."
