Well this lady had an opinion. Lol. Personally I'm a big hugger and air kisser! But then I have been raised with a Grandma from England and my family has very European influence. Call me odd. Call me gay. But you're right! Lol. ;)

I guess as a guy it might be a different experience, but I'd much sooner shake a hand than accept a hug... unless I am already intimate with that person.

In some countries, like France, friends shake hands routinely upon meeting and upon separating (although women sometimes do the kisses-on-both-cheeks number). I personally like the contact of a handshake better than just smiling and nodding. Hugs are great, too, when appropriate.
