After "Dynasty" OD-ed on camp following the Moldavian bloodbath, the show continued to experience creative aftershocks in the fall of 1985, such as this over-the-top "Krystle's double" storyline, at which time the show's ratings began to decline.

Although the new writers failed to do a good job in early season 6, the bizarre storylines were originally conceived by season 5 head writer Camille Marchetta, who then left "Dynasty", painting her successors into a corner.

When recalling this storyline in a 2006 cast reunion, Linda Evans said that after 5 years the writers no longer knew what to do with their characters and that she would always cringe when looking at herself speaking with a Southern accent and wearing a red wig.

Taken from "The Gown" episode of "Dynasty" (#6.05), originally aired on ABC October 30, 1985.

  • It's interesting... at the time of this storyline, I had read somewhere that Linda Evans had asked to do more interesting work on Dynasty and this is what the writer's came up with... ;)

  • Well... Perhaps now that many people remember this storyline as one of the low points, the way she perceives it today has changed...

  • I don't understand people who criticized "Dynasty" for being "over the top". Aren't soaps supposed to be crazy and outrageous?

This scene is sooo hilarious. Krystle telling Rita she'd better have an explanation for looking like her!! I loved Joel not even hitting Krystle, but when Krystle falls, the dramatic music kicks in!!

And Krystle, Joel, and Sammy Jo walking in at the right moment was priceless. "Dynasty" was the best!

  • I always loved that storyline!

  • @ZebrasFirst Oh no, it didn't make me depressed! I was... oh, I don't know, I just thought it was kinda weird. But the after-affects of it made me laugh, so in a way it didn't backfire. So cheer up! :D *hugs*

  • Kelaiah01, I apologize that the cartoon backfired and made you depressed rather than making you laugh. Now I feel depressed!

  • @ZebrasFirst ...it kinda freaked me out. Meh, I don't know, maybe I wasn't in the right mood when I saw it. I felt so sorry for that poor little flower getting picked on so much, plus the weed's squeaky voice made me feel sorry for it too (when it was begging for mercy that is). Though I can understand why it'd be considered funny; I HATE weeds, and I hate weeding, so I could relate to the scenario. XD lol

  • Kelaiah01, Can I send you one of my childhood favorite shorts? Or you can look it up yourself here on Youtube: "Andy Panda in The Wacky Weed".

It's crazy and wacky hilarious!! Let me know what you think, please. Enjoy!!

  • @ZebrasFirst Read them? Heck, I own all the "Redwall" books currently published! XD And I've see "Riki Tiki Tavi", I saw in Elelmentary School a couple of times. I liked it. :) Maybe someday I'll rewatch it, like how I've been doing with some of my old childhood cartoons. XD

  • Kelaiah01, Have you read the "Redwall" book series? You MUST watch "Riki Tiki Tavi". It's great. I noticed it's posted here on YouTube.

  • @ZebrasFirst Er, well, its produced by Nelvana, which is a Canadian company, but it has aired in America. And I think I read it'll be reshown in America soon... but you can see all the episodes on YouTube. However, the series is based off a book series written by an English fellow. I forget when it aired, a few years ago, perhaps longer.

  • Kelaiah01, When and where did "Redwall" air? Is it American?

  • @ZebrasFirst Thank you. :) But no, that isn't Riki Tiki. Its actually a minor character (a ferret named Stumptooth) from the 3rd season of the "Redwall" series, only season 3 is titled "Martin the Warrior".

  • Kelaiah01, I like your Channel thumbnail pic. Is that Riki Tiki Tavi, the snake-killing mongoose?
