@BakaHirata I have no clue what that means lol. I have the device now already and it seems to work great except for the audio goes out of sync while watching some DBZ movies encoded by DBNL.

Heya. Been considering picking this up so I can watch my anime collection on it. All the files are .MKV so I was wondering what compatibility is like with that file type. Have you run into any that didn't want to work? Specifically files from release groups?

@iceissocold When I tested, all my .MKV files seemed to work--even 1080p. I would advise against this for anime, though, because fansub groups are moving towards 10bit encodes and the WDTVL+ isn't going to be able to play them. You should also be aware of the issues it is has with soft subtitles (see part 2 and 3 of this video).

@BakaHirata 10bit encodes? Is it softsub related or the video file? I am also considering buying this, but after what you've told, I won't anymore. Are there any players that can stream and play thos 10bit files now?

@b4ckr4bbit It's a new form of encoding video. Most anime up until recently has been encoded in 8bit. Look up "Hi10P" or "10bit video" for more on it. As far as hardware players go; I stopped keeping up with them after I built my HTPC, so I'm not sure where you'd find hardware support for such a new format.
