Gas fireplaces are available in vented and ventless models. While ventless models utilize more of the heat produced by the fireplace, the carbon monoxide they produce can cause safety concerns.

  • Yes, in the business as a manufacturer. Prefer to keep my customers alive.

  • @1newstang sounds like someone who's in the business and doesn't want to install

  • Bad Idea!, every gallon of fuel is a gallon of water. If you see a yellow flame it is deprived of oxygen! = Soot = Carbon Monoxide!. You wont be able to sit in there for more than a few minutes without feeling like your in a sauna!. If you are looking for heat, turn up your thermostat !. There is no good that comes of this!

The water it put off isnt a real problem if you run even a small dehumidifier. With most furnaces they make the air dry, so using this in conjunction will actually help put the moisture back in a room that the furnace takes out

  • Best idea was the carbon moxionide and to use it in a large room. We used our blue flame ventless to heat the complete house for 2 winters while we were working on getting a furnace installed. Now its an added bonus for supplimental heat. We also have a real fireplace that we have used in jonjunction for those 2 winters. I did research and the water it emits and co is what makes them bad,, But with a c/o detector it meant the difference between life and death.

  • The real threat is the acidic water vapor it emits. CA, MA and Canada are smart to just say NO to ventless anything! Looks like the drywall fits right up to the firebox. Most ventless boxes need clearances to combustibles. I'm sure the contractor read the instructions.
