I know this might not be the best as a guide, but It's not really meant as a guide, I feel it's pretty important to learn things out on your own mostly and as long as you get a couple of tips and are pointed in the right direction, you'll learn more in the end. So basically in the end my twin famicom had a PPU problem, and if that's the first route you want to take your going to need a NES/Famicom board for parts nonetheless, I recommend trying the RAM first most just to get you familiar with soldering/desoldering NES components, but if you want to jump into the 40 pin PPU that's completely up to you.
