http://www.mlwebco.com - In this video I demonstrate my web design process. This is helpful to any web designer that's looking for a process to use when designing a website, web page or any mock-up for the web.

  • Hi Michael, great job.... looks like heaps of dynamic content areas, how would your clients managing their content? do you supply your design with joomla or wordpress CMS in this case?

  • @neodelphi This was just a concept project I did (for a company that I'm currently in talks with) solely for the purpose of showing my design process. It wasn't for an actual site. If this was a real site, this would be considered a template, and the dynamic content areas would be pulling from the database. No CMS in this case. :)

  • What web editor do you use on mac?

  • @VisionMediaSolution I use dreamweaver to code my sites, Fireworks to design and screenflow to record and edit the video.

  • Would be awesome if you did break down your mock up for the site in a tutorial, because it is a really beautiful and simple site that would help me out heaps with my own stuff! :)

  • @seether5lakers Thanks for the feedback, I'll definitely break down the mock-up in another video. ;)

  • Awesome Dude !

  • Thanks a lot - good video :)

  • nice!

  • Mike thanks for sharing this and your many other web design related videos. Since watching your videos I've revamped my entire approach realizing that my previous approach was very problematic but I'm approach it much more methodically now. Its like the difference in building first with an architect and engineer's plan as opposed to gathering a bunch of builders and letting them have go at it.

    Thanks again Mike.

  • Web design process is a very long process.

  • @mlwebco First of all thanks a lot for all the valuable info.

Here a quick question: I pretty much follow the same steps except for the HI-Wireframing...i jump straight from lo-wireframe to photoshop for the mock-up.

Is skipping that step a bad design practice?

  • @MrMfloor Someone has been spending more money then they can afford :P
