On Saturday, November 5, 2011, after a visit to Steamtown NHS, Big Jim Video Productions visited the Delaware River Railroad, for their #4039 Fundraiser. #4039 is an 0-6-0 ALCO steam engine being restored at the Whippany Railway Museum, in nearby Whippany, NJ. The proceeds from the Fundraiser will go towards the re-building of the steam locomotive to operational status. Powering today's train is 2-8-2 Susquehanna #142, a product of the Tangshan Locomotive Works in China. There were a few runbys throughout the day on the various runs, although I apparently missed one somewhere and don't have the footage for it. That night, a photo session was held along the line by Pete Lerro and the Lerro Productions crew. There were many static shots, and a few runbys as well. I'd love to say that the background noise you hear during the runbys is from the old Chevy truck set up - but in reality, it's from the generators used to run the lighting. Ah well, can't win them all. Enjoy the video, and don't forget to check out my other ones as well!

  • @CSX6000 Yes it was a fun day. The night session was very cool too. I'm glad the engine was able to mostly drown out the sounds of the generators...

  • Nice video Jim! This was a fun day out.

  • @ATSF1927 The ALCO steamer is an engine being restored at a separate museum in Whippany, NJ. The fundraiser with this engine is having the proceeds from this trip go towards restoring the ALCO.

  • @ATSF1927 That's not an Alco. That's a Chinese built, built in 1989.
