Keeping in line with the possible meaning of some characters' names, Mal's name can also have significance in your analysis - «mal» in french means «hurt» or «evil» depending on the context. «Faire du mal» means «to cause harm». I'm francophone, and I've never heard of the surname «Mal» (I don't remember if they specifically say that Mal is French in the movie although Marion Cotillard is). I doubt any francophone would name their child «Mal».

@nm11607,
Watch the film: Cobb spins the totem on the table and then walks away.
It isn't inappropriate for Saito to have aged more either: he entered limbo much sooner and time passes more rapidly there. I suspect we are meant to believe Cobb has aged too given the lines about being young men once more.
What is probably more important is the visual contrast at the end. Cobb is seen as a gruel-drinking prophet (robes?) while Saito is living luxuriously in a giant sandcastle.

This is a pretty good analysis. What of the other characters they have to have move meaning than just there, Ariadne specifically

@foxfire1112,
Plenty of online discussions. My vote for subtlety is naming the two children - who represent faith - after the biblical apostles James and Philip. Ariadne seems a reference to the Greek myth. She guides Cobb out of the maze that is the mortal world, metaphorically shattering the mirrors that keep him trapped in a recursive dream world.
