Our hilarious cat buzzes around us as we move a giant rock into place to make a bench in the back yard. Time lapse movie made by taking one image every two seconds and played back at 30 f/s. Yo-Yo Ma & Bobby McFerrin accompany us with "Flight Of The Bumblebee"

  • We have a rock in our woods were our going to move to the center of our rock garden, and have rocks progressively larger than the last act as steps going up to it. We can only see a portion of the rock, from what we can see i would guess it is 18,000-20,000 pounds. We are trying to figure out plans on how to get it out... Any tips on somehting like that? We are going to try digging almost all the way down, then using to john deere G's in team with a skid loader behind the rock and cables

  • just take care that the cables don't snap. That'll make a mess right quick. Good luck, your garden's going to rock if you pull this off!

  • any good ideas how to move 5000 lbs rock out of back yard?

  • I used a 16' I-beam to lift a 7000 pound rock up. Wrapped tow straps around the beam and the rock and then used a car jack to lift the rock. Then I pulled a pond liner under it and dropped it back down so there's a nice big rock in the middle of my pond.

In general though, if you can get the rock onto a wooden skid and then use 1" pipe rollers underneath, you can move almost anything.

  • did you debate, carrying the rock?

  • haha, yeah, but it weighs about 800 pounds...

  • please let me know what music track you used for the video

    ...cheers

  • Thanks! But bad news lol, all was working and the rock was out on the edge of the hole, pretty much out.... And it rocked back into the hole and broke in half. I guess better there than half way out of the woods right?? lol, we are settling for two smaller ones now :P

  • so sweet :-)

  • I love it! that's great....

  • great timelapse movie. it makes the rock moving look so easy just watching. Check my timelapse movies.
