why do you think you need a full iconostasis to be Orthodox? (since it developed over time into what it is today). Are you saying that parishes without an iconostasis are not Orthodox?
On the other hand, I don't really care for the benches; Orthodox worship should be done standing, but that is my opinion and clearly not that of the bishop there.

That explains that. I was curious at first....best of luck to the parish!
In Part Two of my Sunday of Orthodoxy Video you can hear Thomas Hopko (son of Fr. John) reading "For his mercy is confirmed on us.."

I agree. Where is the iconostasis?

you sing beautifully, but where is your iconostasis, you cant just take what you want from the Orthodox church and leave the rest, you're either Orthodox or your not..........
Read the books on Orthodoxy, Courage to be Different, Strength to remain the same, by Fr matejic, learn about the entire Orthodox religion, not just parts of it.
No offense but the Ukrainian Catholic Church I attend is far more Orthodox than this. Far more Orthodox...

@ajl22586 Hi. Offense taken. With all due respect, I don't think an Eastern Rite Catholic is in a position to judge what is Orthodox. We do have a simple iconostasis now and we have strong ties to St Vladimir's Seminary in NY. Over the years we have had many visiting hierarchs, including Met Kallistos (Ware), and priests/monks from places like Ukraine and Greece. All have enjoyed serving the Liturgy with us and never doubted our Orthodoxy. Next time you are in Montreal come and see for yourself.

Okay, I'd encourage all to not jump to conclusions and not be so judgemental. Our parish is young and was only able to purchase our first temple a couple years ago. We are still raising money for an iconostasis and hope to have one in a year or two. They are VERY EXPENSIVE and not all parishes are as wealthy as yours must be. Donations are welcome! I'd also like to say that we are very Orthodox. Our priest is the son-in-law of Fr Alexander Schmemann, and Fr Alexander's widow, Matushka Juliana, is a member of the parish. The concelebrating Priest is Fr Tom Hopko, retired Dean of St Vladimir's Seminary (also a son-in-law of Fr Schmemann) who was visiting that weekend. It is just that we have much remodeling to do as well as have an iconostasis built and it will take us a while to be able to afford it. Mother Stephanie
