Demi's POV
On my lunch break I decided to go to the immigration office with my soon to be husband. I actually don't know why I came up with this plan. I mean getting married isn't suppose to be fake it's suppose to be real and it's suppose to have love, real love between the two people. All there is between me and Nick is work and maybe hate but from his part. Maybe with the time of us being married something can magically happen... just kidding Nick is a little too young for me and plus he really isn't my type.
"Are we almost there?" Nick says interrupting my thoughts and the awkward silence.
"Yup." I said. Not knowing what else to say.
When we were in front of the brown office building. I was going to open the door but then Nick opened it. I thought he was going to get in first then leave me outside and make me open the door but instead he hold the door open for me to enter. I don't know why but I felt my cheeks get warm as I was walking inside the building.
"Are you blushing?" Nick asks
"Um... no?" I said walking away from him.
Once we were completely inside the office building we enter some double doors. When we got in we see a big line but I run straight to the front of the line.
"Excuse me." I tell the lady that was next in line. "I need for you to file these papers for me." I say to the guy behind the desk.
He opens up the file. "Ms. Lovato?" He asks.
"Yes?" I say.
"Please. Come with me." He says motioning me to follow him. I turn around and motion Nick to come with me.
Nick's POV
Once we got to the immigration office Demi cuts line and give the papers to the guy behind the desk. He grabs them and looks at them then he tells Demi to follow him. She of course tells me the same. We walked into this hallway where he opened up a door to a office and he told us to enter and sit down on the chairs. I go sit down in the chair next to the wall while Demi stands next to the door using her phone.
"I have a bad feeling about this." I said, breaking the silence.
Just when I say that someone knocks on the door. "Hi hello." Says a guy entering the office. "I'm Jason Adams."
"Aah." Demi says.
"You must be Nicholas and Demetria." We both nod. "Sorry for the wait. I've had a crazy day."
"Of course. We understand. And I can't tell you how much we appreciate you for seeing us on such a short notice." Demi said
"Alright. So I have one question for you both. Are you guys commuting a fraud to avoid her deportization so she can keep her postition as a manger at Frames Book Cmpany (random name)?" Jason says.
"Um... were did you hear that?" Demi asks nervously.
"We got a phone tip, earlier today."
Demi nods. "Would it have been from a person named Taylor Launter?" She says.
"Um... yea, it is from a Taylor Launter?" He responds
"Well I bet he is hurting because I fired him today in the morning. I apologize from his behalf. We know your incredablely busy with a room full of gardeners what not." I shake my head. How can she be so freakin' mean. "But if you give us the next step, we will be out of your hair and out of your way." She says.
Jason laughs. "Ms. Lovato please." He motions her to sit down in the chair next to me. "Uh... let me explain to you the process that's about to happen. Step 1: will be a scheduled interview. I will put you each in a room and ask you real questions that couples would know about each other. Step 2: I dig deeper. I check everything including your phone, messages and your phone records. I talk to your neighbors, interview you co-workers. And if your answers don't match up at every point then you..." He points at Demi. "... will be deported FOREVER. And you..." He then points at me. "... will have commited a felony." Right after he says that I felt sick. "It is a punishable crime of a fine of 250,000 dollars and you go to jail up to 7 years in a federal prison." He continued the he smiles at us. After a second he breaks the akward silence. "So? Nick?" He then turns to looks at me. "Do you want to talk to me?" I shake my head. "No?" He asks again. This time I nod my head. "Yes?" He says. From the corner of my left eye I see Demi tensing up. This is my only chance of getting away with this. I could go to jail if we get caught. I know what kind of stuff people have been through in a prison jail. I open my mouth and I can't believe what came out of it.
