I'm guessing he means he might not be able to make 2 at a time always at the beginning because the next edge he is looking for might be at the DF position

You are meaning the bigcubes method, I thought he ment to really just do one at a time. (although I have to say that with this exact method only 1 at a time you could still get sub-2)...
