"The Real Duck Woman"-said by Phil Robertson

As your 2009 Miss. Rostin' with Rosie Bar-B-Que Festival Queen, I competed in the Team Real Duck Calling Contest at the Rice Festival. They wanted no rolling feed call and you couldn't ring your call.

For the 2010 Louisiana State Duck Meat Calling Contest I placed state 5th out of 21 men. I thought it was pretty good for a girl. I really liked the State Calling contest because it was fair, I had to draw a number and the judges were behind a curtain. So, then men could say I received more points because I was a girl.

That sounds great!! I just wish I new how to get more women to enjoy this sport. Everytime I try to sell my girlfriend, sister or their friends, I always seem to draw blank stares. I don't know if it is the 20 degree weather, mud, waiters, decoys, blue bird mornings, 4:30 a.m. wakeup call, not taking any grief because you were one hole over, or not wanting to miss a duck in front of a crowd. However, I do know your duck calling sounds fantastic! How did you get started? Curtis
