MUJER DE MADERA, CALIFORNIA (with English Subtitles)

I filmed this in 2004, and I used my cousins, niece and sister as the actors -- it's a very amature video.

It's a parody based on a Mexican soap opera called "Mujer de Madera." The parody is called "Mujer de Madera, California" because there is an actual city in California called Madera, California. The title is a play on words in Spanish. "Mujer de madera" (original title) means, Wooden Woman. "Mujer de Madera, California" means Woman from Madera, California.

In the real version, the main actress, Edith González, got pregnant during its production, so they replaced her with Ana Patricia Rojo who looks nothing like Edith González. To justify this change they wrote far-fetched story in which the protagonist gets burned and she has reconstructive surgery. In normal shows the change of an actor happens with no explanations. In this show, they wrote an elaborate story around it..

My favorite part is when "Marisa Santibáñez" takes off her bandages. Enjoy... :-)
