Pinagat Hurao: Guam Military Buildup (Chief Hurao's 1671 Speech)

An ancient speech with a message that resounds through today. This is a message to ALL people who call Guam home, whether you are Chamorro or not, I urge you to take the time to view this speech and to think about Chief Hurao's message. We are facing an unprecedented influx of military personnel into our islands, and we must be sure to voice our opinions.

To be clear, this message is not intended to cause hatred or contempt for the military or federal government. My intention is to present a very inspiring piece that was delivered during a time of war when the people of Guam faced foreigners taking land and near extinction of their race. It is a message that we should not be afraid to stand up for ourselves and our beliefs; in this message Hurao calls for war and using force to remove the Spaniards because diplomacy was never an option in 17th century Guam. Now that our people have the education and means to pursue just diplomacy, it should be recognized that we can peacefully resist our oppressors and should do so with words and action, not hatred and bloodshed.

There is simply no better way to describe it than how the group "We Are Guahan" puts it:
Don't be anti-American, Don't be anti-our troops, Just be PRO-GUAM!!!!
