'Tea party' rally attracts thousands in Dallas

A crowd estimated at 3,000 people (including my mom and my aunt) assembled in the parking lot of an Addison (suburb of Dallas) restaurant Friday to protest the Obama administration's health care plan.

Organizers of the Tea Party Express caravan said it was the biggest crowd since they began a cross-country, grass-roots marathon last month in Sacramento, California.

Many attending the lunch time rally outside the Cape Buffalo restaurant carried signs reading "ObamaScare: It's to die for," "Hands off our Medicare & guns" and "'We're not going to pull the plug on Grandma' — THEY JUST WON'T PLUG HER IN."

This is an outgrowth of "tea party" events in North Texas and across the nation earlier this year in which citizens expressed their frustration with government spending, government intrusion on their lives and higher taxes.

Organizers of the Tea Party Express said the health care issue has crystallized support for the movement. President Obama will address a joint session of Congress on that topic next week.

The caravan is making its way to Washington D.C. for a taxpayer march on September 12.

I'm a taxpayer and I'm sick of paying twice for health insurance and the conservatives calling it a free market. I've never had a choice on health insurance and my health is more important than a company's bottom line!!
