This is happening more and more on the Mt Blanc. Because of Global warming often, in Summer, the water between the rocks doesnt freeze, even at night. This has made especially the `tourist` climber route from the Les Houches side a much more dangerous proposition, as even at 3 in the morning as there is no ice to bind the rocks together.

I was there this year and watched a guy get hit at the crossing....fell/slid 80m to his death! tragic accident but you do have to respect this section of the mountain.
