http://smarticledirectory.com - The Qinghai province of China, near Tibet, experienced a 7.1 magnitude earthquake at 7:49 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

The earthquake hit at a depth of 20.5 miles. Some media sources are saying the quake hit at only 6 miles below the surface of the earth. The epicenter of the earthquake was around 240 kilometers (150 miles) northwest from Qamdo.

There were two smaller earthquakes within twelve minutes after the 7.1 magnitude quake hit. These follow-up quakes had a magnitude of 5.3 and 5.2.
