The piece depicts a festival among Yi People in China where guys and girls dance and meet each other. This piece is about love and romance, the composer wrote this piece of music to woo his love, and now I am playing this piece and dedicating it to my love whos currently in Japan.

  • btw, your amazing! the was perfectly done :)

  • @korvidkrow96 Thank you :) I hope your new pipa is working fine now :)

  • Thank you for sharing! I'm trying to learn this song but don't really know the whole melody. Now I can sort of figure out myself and not rely so much on my instructor. :D I can never get the part which goes 66 1221 (pulling the string) though :/

  • @yijun21 you are welcome. I hope you can get the string bending part soon.

  • i just bought my first Pipa (i can't afford a really good one so i bought a $200 one off eBay), and im also having problems with my string action. im thinking, maybe, i should cut the slots that the strings sit in (at the headstock and the bridge) deeper so it makes the action lower. Ive done that to one of my acoustic guitars before.. it worked, but i dont want to accidentally screw it up D: wish me luck!

  • How much of this is also dance music?

  • @Vlaxitov I haven't met anyone like that (most pipa players I know aren't very tall, but I am sure there are players who are over 6 feet tall....) I hope you found a solution.

  • @wanwanpipa Yeah its adult size. It has to be around 3 feet tall from base to top. If I held it like you are in this video, the very top fret is at eye level for me. Have you ever met someone over 6 feet tall who plays it? I didn't know there was something that would lift a guitar to a higher position as it sits in my lap. I'll check into it, thank you. BTW, you're one of the best players I've seen online.

  • @Vlaxitov There are pipa for children that are smaller than regular pipa, just make sure yours is a regular one. I haven't encountered anyone with that problem, so I am not sure what to do really, sorry about that :-/ The thing that guitarists use to raise the guitar maybe helpful. Good luck.

  • @wanwanpipa I am having the same problem and just suspect I bought a piece of decoration. I have another question maybe you could help me with. I am 6"3' and have a long torso. Holding the pipa correctly is impossible, trying is extremely uncomfortable as my head reaches the tunning pegs. I need to find a way to raise the pipa as it sits in my lap. You might think I'm too big to play this instrument but I have small nimble hands for my size and would really like to try playing this instrument.
