  • wait, maybe it was this church, the guy i was with said all the graffiti was recent

  • @austin7956

This church is NE of Williston not far from Tioga and the ghost town of Temple which is right on the railroad line. Do you know the name of the one you were at?

  • By the way, you need to watch yourself when you're roaming these old abandon buildings. I've done this a time or two in my day and I am an eye witness to my friend being mauled by a raccoon.

  • @Weezydropsthebomb - I've learned to expect the unexpected in these abandoned

places, I usually make sure I make plenty of noise to let whatever may be in there get out, then I get ready to dodge the barnswallows and yellowjackets upon entering.

  • I don't live in ND, but I'm Scandinavian Lutheran and this just plain pissed me off ... what the hell is wrong with that congregation for walking away and just leaving it to ROT! ... dishes on the table, even??!

  • I've found out some history on this church, and even at it's peak attendance it didn't have more that 40 members. When you are out here, you don't see a house on the horizon if you turn 360 degrees. I think there just weren't enough people to support it, and they ended up merging with other churches that were relatively close (10 miles or so, away).

  • Nice, but next time at least tap on the piano. ;-)

  • I love abandon places. They hold such beauty. A mere shadow of what they once were. It's such a wonder.

  • This is what corporate farming leads to. If farming policy gave the little guys more of a break, this church may well have still been in use, who knows. Maybe those oil folks could throw a little chump change our way for rural structure renovation projects???

  • @jpipsqueak Interesting ... but couldn't they at least have torn it down? It's just so sad to walk away from a church and leave it to the elements like that!

  • I have photographed this church and another more over towards Lignite (sp). I am drilling in the McGregor area 3 weeks out of every month. Lots of fantastic photo opportunities with all the abandoned farms in the area. Nice videos.
