I took my first (and only!) flights in a K8 at Long Mynd. However no bungee launches that day. Good to see how it's done. Great site and had fun sheep dodging on the final!
It's bungee - a Y-shaped arrangement of elasticated rope that stores enough energy to get the aircraft moving. The massive headwind plays a part in the aircraft becoming airborne, admittedly :)
