Dude. I was replying to the first comment. They asked why ALL women in India were mistreated. I simply said that they weren't. The reason why I talked about the female president thing is because unlike America, which has never elected a woman president, India already has. And I talked about the Indian goddesses to show the culture of India, since the person was obviously from a different country and had no clue about it

we are in a reluctant transition phase from a very conservative culture to a liberal and western one. Many women have accepted freedom and equality but there are men who still consider themselves naturally above women in the natural order and that every women who moves freely, has a boyfriend or dresses immodestly( as per their standards!!) are doing something wrong and don't deserve as much respect as a conservative housewife.

OK, first of all: back the hell off. You have your opinions and I have mine. Unlike you, I obviously was brought up in a much more free environment. I was born in America but, have been living in the suburbs of Mumbai for the past 12 years of my life and, I have never been harassed by any men before.

There are the villages in India and then there are places like the suburbs of Mumbai. There are two completely different worlds in India, and I happen to live in the much better part of it.

I think it's just Hindu religion. But Americans can't say anything, because India is 3rd highest in the rape rate. but you know who's second and first? USA and South Africa.
