I doubt that this would be something that said demographic would be pretending about, but then again, that is something to ponder about.

Today, I begin a new playthrough series. This time I play the doujin game RosenkreuzStilette by [erka:es]. I was requested to play this game a few years ago, but had no way to properly record it, until recently. So here I am, playing this game to fulfill said request. To be blunt, this game pretty much a Megaman clone, or at the very least, an homage to the game series as it uses A LOT of references from multiple games in the series mythos. This game not only has references to tons of Megaman enemies and stage layouts, but it also has several references to other games as well. See how many other references you can find throughout this playthrough.

As for the story, it goes a little something like this: Many years ago, a group of human beings with magical powers called "Magi" were common around the world. However, as time passed, their numbers greatly reduced, and those Magi that are still left were shunned, feared, and persecuted by the Holy Empire and Orthodox Church. It was then that a great Magi named Rosenkreuz and eight disciples fought against their oppressors. As a result, Rosenkreuz died, but his wish was fulfilled as the Magi was accepted into society as well as being a part of the military fighting forces known as the Rosenkreuzstilette (or "RKS" a.k.a. "Blade of the Rose Cross").

Decades later, we see a young member of the RKS, Spiritia Rosenberg, returning home after months of training along with her fairy companion, Lilli. At that time, she was ordered by the leader of the RKS, Graf Michael Sepperin, to see his daughter, Iris. Upon Spiritia and Iris meeting a dragon swooped in and kidnapped Iris. At the same time, the place where the two were meeting was under attack... by the RKS forces with Spiritia's childhood friend, Freudia Neuwahl, being the cause, and, along with others in the RKS, started another war under Graf Sepperin's orders between the Magi and their former oppressors, the HEOC. Confused by the sudden turn of events, Spiritia refuses to join in the fight being labelled as a traitor in the RKS and decides to fight against her friends to figure out the cause this maddening and worsening scenario.

In terms of gameplay, RosenkreuzStilette is very true to the Megaman style following the styles of three series: Classic, X, and Zero (the "Zero" part of the game will be shown another time). Go through eight stages, then go through the final stages afterwardes all the while collecting the abilities of your defeated opponents. Spiritia can shoot her magic bullets and charge it for a super shot similar to the Mega Buster. She can also slide. The in-game graphics are stunning with beautiful layouts. Let's not forget about the music. If you're doing a Megaman-styled game, you got to come with it musically, and this game does it without dropping a sweat with an excellent soundtrack.

Overall, this is a very solid game that pays tribute to the Megaman series extremely well, in my honest opinion. I seriously recommend this game... assuming you can ignore the fact that you are playing a game that is full of young anime girls.

This video has commentary, so you know the score on that part. As for part 1, this part contains the opening stage, Grolla's and Freudia's stages. Enjoy the video.

  • Have you seen The captions for this? Youtube didn't pick up on your accent at all.

  • @theultamatelife666 Nope. It would be probably funny to watch seeing how I completely butchered one of YT's functions (or vice versa), but since I really never cared for the captions fuction, I tend to ignore it.

  • A Megaman-meets-Castlevania-and-others game?

    I like! :D

  • Going off of Digimon Frontier (which also uses a lot of German names, albeit not purely), it probably is because they do sound kinda cool.

Also, I always saw a lot of similarities to Megamari in this game, which doesn't really say too much about that huh. P:

  • Okay, I must have been reading/watching too much FullMetal Alchemist, 'cause I swear I saw transmutation circles in this game.
