The video above is a clip from the full DVD, a video presentation for educating the classmates of children with high-functioning autism (HFA) and Asperger syndrome.
This AutismVision program was developed to foster the social inclusion of children with HFA and Asperger syndrome in general education classrooms. The program consists of a multimedia package designed to reach children ages 8 to 11.
The goals of this AutismVision program are to:
Increase typical children's understanding of HFA and Asperger syndrome
Foster empathy and positive attitudes toward children with HFA and Asperger syndrome
Promote positive social interactions between children with HFA and Asperger syndrome and their typical peers
This audiovisual program provides classmates with comprehensive, yet developmentally appropriate information about HFA and Asperger syndrome. A Facilitator's Guide provides instructions for teachers or other advocates on how to effectively implement the classroom presentation, along with suggested activities that reinforce main learning points.
