The best recumbent bikes can go well over 90 km per hour and as far as I'm aware no major funding is being provided for research and development to help recumbent bikes reach their full potential.

This is awesome concept...What about medical emergencies i.e. someone who has a leg, back etc condition and need to be removed quickly? the coasting speed down rail, group travel and baggage?

@funktapus you still haven't looked at the web page, have you? They do answer a lot of criticisms on the web page and are honest enough to say that the first system would be a trial, much like the first underground in London was.
