Shweeb originated from the desire to create a solution which provided the user with the same flexibility and comfort offered by the car but without the consequential costs - both direct financial and indirect health and environmental costs.

"The idea of riding above the traffic jams on multi-level rails seemed to me the only possible way that Tokyos millions of residents could move around the city quickly and safely. It had the added advantages of being environmentally friendly and offering an aerobic workout.
To me this was a project that I could, if I put my mind to it, make happen.

    The best recumbent bikes can go well over 90 km per hour and as far as I'm aware no major funding is being provided for research and development to help recumbent bikes reach their full potential.

  • first of all its a great idea...its excersise too!!!

    second we houston we have a problem....what about old people...they dont have the strength that can petal...so more cool it would be to be so light that it would move with a touch...

  • This is awesome concept...What about medical emergencies i.e. someone who has a leg, back etc condition and need to be removed quickly? the coasting speed down rail, group travel and baggage?

  • @funktapus you still haven't looked at the web page, have you? They do answer a lot of criticisms on the web page and are honest enough to say that the first system would be a trial, much like the first underground in London was.
