Kontula metro station in eastern Helsinki. Kontula station was opened 21st October 1986. Between 1986-1989 it was the worl's northernmost metro station. The original metro station was built on limited budjet, i. e. it did not have escalators. The station was reconstructed in 2002 and 2006-2008.
