Only very few WurliTzer 616 jukeboxes were fitted with this light animation unit. That's why the unit is really hard to come by. And this light animation unit makes the WurliTzer 616 jukebox from the year 1937 to something really special: it was the first jukebox that used animation to attract their customers to play a record.

I had heard rumors about this rare color animation - I have a Wurlitzer 412 and it looks like it would work great on that as well. Thanks for sharing.

A shank jewel tipped needle won't hurt the records as long as you take the weight off. The tracking weight was very heavy on purpose for bumps and bangs. Those shank needles have great fidelity and a very mellow tone. They filter out the surface noise well. You can get the shank needles tipped to the right width for 50's records too and it won't hurt them.

I see you haven't changed the cartridge.. which is kool, for these older records, but I had to fill my wurlitzer 500 with rare doo wop records & early rock and roll, so the cartridge was the first thing I changed.. would sell the cartridge, but it looks so kool, almost exactly like yours! Wonder what just the cartridge would be worth?
