i love how you in the vid wernt a douche at all, but most of the comments are.

i do Color Guard for my ROTC, and the only thing that pisses me off is looking for videos on the subject (like how to spin better, etc...) and finding all of this winter guard stuff.

but seriously (not trying to troll :P) why is winter guard also called color guard?

because color guard is guarding your countries colors. not spinning multi colored flags and sabers?

@CrimsonOmen407 A colorguard is traditionally the visual representation of the music. Modern colorguards use flags, sabres, and rifles, as well as a mix of ballet, jazz, modern, and contemporary modern dance. Traditional colorguard first began during the English reign around the time of the American Revolution. A band would accompany the soldiers to play music to keep their spirits up and to keep them in beat. Along with the band, they also had a soldier holding a flag with their colors on it.

@colorguardwithbuddy well i heard from a number of different sources that how color guard started (at least in america) was that during like the rev. war or the civil war, units had flags so they could be easily IDed on the field, and there were guards to make sure the enemy didnt get the flags. hence 'Color Guard'.

so i guess thats the difference between military guard and winterguard, where it originated

im on military guard and yeah we spin heavy rifles but you guys do way more then spin and you guys teach me stuff so thanks for making the videos it help more then just colorguard.

People who say that kind of stuff don't deserve to even BE in the military. I did colorguard for my marching band as well as for my JROTC unit. Yes, they're two different forms of the same thing; yes, military colorguard use much heavier rifles than winterguard rifles. At the same time, military colorguard spin their rifles in a manner so it's easier to spin. There's no way in hell they can spin their rifles as fast (or controlled) as we do with one hand. They all need to get a grip. Seriously.

say it how it is! :) haha. i hate when ppl are like oh military guard are better than you guys. im sorry yea you guys spin heavier rifles. AND???? that doesnt mean anything. lol. i would like to see them throw a 7 and spin under it and catch it solid. OR not even that. try to spin and dance at the same time! ahh!!! it irks me sooo badly!!!!

I couldn't agree more! Even though they are both "rifles" they are two almost completely different disciplines. As someone else wrote here I noticed - color guard rifle is an art form.  Its just different.

THANK YOU. I'm getting told by some military colorguard guy he's better than me, we're not a real colorguard, yada yada yada, and it really pushes me over the edge. I don't care, I want to do what I want. Their both colorguards, they just do things differently.

military and color/winter guard is not the same thing!!! i have been in both, One is stiff and the other is art haha X) i loved drill but sorry color/winter guard is SOOO much more awesome. I handled the heavy rifles also, that doesn't mean anything!
