This is almost definitely a hate crime. In another interview the boy's dad said that if his son was black and going out with a white girl, if a gang of 10 white guys did that, it would be a hate crime right away. I completely agree.

I am white and autistic and my girlfriend is black and this crime is a bloody outrage and people just need to accept that people have the right to be in interracial relationships. Even though I am white, my autism woulda made me an easy target for discrimination during the days of segregation too which just like this crime is unacceptable.

I can see where they disclaim this as a hate crime because in this neighborhood, used to live there, just walking down the streets is basically a death sentence....but they should have definately charged with attempted murder they threw concrete at him any idiot knows that concrete is strong enough to break your skull and bones. More should have been done and those boys getting let off are back on the streets doing the same to another person.
