While doing my family tree I made a few amazing discoveries. I discovered that I am a descendant of the Workhouse of Sheffield England, and that my great uncle was a British Home Child sent to Canada as what is known as a Barnardo boy in 1910. Most amazing discovery was that I had never even heard of British Home Children before this family tree discovery. Such an important part of our history that needs to be told.

  • this video deals with British Home Children only, and has nothing to do what Residential Schools which in itself was a total disgrace.

  • thank you susiespain100

  • "Home Child" comes from the fact they were taken out of homes for the poor (workhouses) or institutions such as Barnardo Homes and orphanages, etc. in Britain and shipped abroad. Nothing to do with the children being Caucasian. It is just the fact they were 'children of homes.'

  • September 28th, every year in Ontario, has been officially declared British Home Child Day!!!

  • Thank you ... I shall look into getting that video to watch!

  • thank you kindly

hi, I am also a descendant of british home children, and this is what I have just found out about my grandmother and her brother. They were sent to canada in 1904 and 1906 on the tunisian. It makes you realize how dark English history surely is.

  • @AnneFox7 For Abuse of Home Children In Canada in this generation see the institutional attacks at Mount Cashel Orphanage. The abuse continued in Ireland with the Christian Brothers and the Magdalenes. These abuses are imported. In Canada often law has been derivative. The Zebra abuse now is derivative of witch hunter programs of the Saskatoon area which imported from the American Midwest. The LDS Mormon Bosco Homes child abuse campaign imported into Alberta From the Saskatchewan SCOOP.

  • When the children are Caucasian they declare a HOME CHILD day when they are First nations they just keep hacking. The next generation of those abused after the Residential School terrors and genocides in Canada is the Sixties Scoop generation. As always we are in the lead: The areas in Edmonton which abused Scoop children were Atonement Home, Mapleridge / Marydale, Trust and Freedom Home, Detention Center. Children's Center, Red Deer Training School, Michenor Center, Eugenics Board.
