According to wikipedia, WIVB news4 will be going HD in late January or early Feb. 2012.

@412Flame The Storm Team 2 weather graphics were updated to WSI's TruVu Max HD platform last year as Gannett upgraded all but 2 stations to it. They do look great in true HD.

I see that Storm Team 2 weather was crystal clear HD, some camera needs to be upgraded to HD cameras.

They actually went back to cold opens yesterday. Now they do the "HD On Your Side" graphic, new opening graphic, and then for some reason they did not keep the cold open graphics from this past summer. However, they are using a new spark transition which actually looks better than some of the other Gannett stations.
For some reason, their 10pm news is NOT in HD yet. All other shows are.

I wish it was more of a WTSP style intro, but they pulled it off pretty well. I agree with the HD On Your Side part where it should have been more emphasized. They could have done "Not HD. It's HD On Your Side."
I did find out from the station itself that the transition is still a work in progress and the final results will not be done for another few weeks. However, I did notice their 10pm news is not in HD (the HD next to the logo or the Presented in HD does not show up.)

WGRZ switched from upconverted SD to HD news was a big picture quality improvement.
