Now relocated to Austin, TX - the Meat Puppets performs "Lake of Fire" at Emo's on Jan. 17, 1999. Being a Sims Foundation charity show, the Meat Puppets headlined the bill with openers Godzilla Motor Co. and Skrew. This version of "Lake of Fire" is short and highly explosive, showing an exciting, fresh renewal for the Meat Puppets. Although Curt Kirtwood is the only committed orignal Meat Puppet (although rythym guitarist, Dle Ellison, and bassist Andrew Duplantis were in the band during the "Golden Lies" era. Anyway, back to the PJs, the band (exept Sahm) wore cute matching pink PJs during the performance! This was an extraodinary night at Emo's - hope you can enjoy this vigorously powerful onslaught. Because of its effective catchiness, no wonder Kurk Cobain covered this 1early 1982 song while in Nirvana!

"Lake of Fire" lyric by Curt Kurkwood

(Chorus)
"Where do bad folks go when they die?
They don't go to heaven where the angels fly.
They go to a lake of fire and fry,
Won't see 'em again 'til the 4th of July"

"I knew a lady who came from Duluth,
Got bit by a dog with a rabid tooth.
She went to her grave just a little too soon,
flew and laid down on the yellow moon."

(Repeat Chorus)

"People cry and people moan,
Look for a dry place to call their home.
Try to find some place to rest their bones,
While the angels and the devils
Try to make 'em their own"

(Repeat Chorus)
(guitar lead)

  • @martianrum haha there is a difference between them is one MADE THIS SONG, and the other one copied (poorly) it then blew his brains out like a fucking LOSER . but that shouldnt affect little fucks like you. that is all . good day.

  • @LDB37 considering kurt and meat puppets were good friends would make them what pussies too then. shut the fuck up and know what your talking about. they both make great music. music should be played by the passion by the artist, not to satisfy fucks like you. that is all. good day

  • @wazaawaza

i dont wanna know what they use their tongue for in the privacy of hell.

now do like cobain and DIE

  • @hemorrhoidprime

what the FUCK are you talking about.

nirvana never opened the flood gates to anything!

    except maybe hilarity and disgust.

i pity their version of this song and pity anyone who spent a buck on a single record from those useless cocksuckers.

if you think so highly of cobain go do what he fuckin did! DIE
