The Horse Magazine, July 2009 issue #89

"An original 1960's Triumph and a little motorcycle history worth mentioning. This story takes a brief look into the history of Triumph, the 1961 Bonneville shown and the great Floyd Clymer...

The Triumph Motorcycle Company has been around for over a century and credits Gottlieb Daimler with being the first to produce the gasoline powered motorbike in 1885. The first Triumph motorbike had a vertically mounted engine on a wooden bicycle frame centered between the two main front and back wheels. Some would argue that this was not the first motorbike because in 1867 an American by the name of Sylvester Howard Roper also invented a motor driven bike but his two cylinder steam engine powered by coal; decide for yourself which was first.

As the timeline shows, the first production of the Triumph motorbike wasnt until 1902. It was called the Number 1 and was powered by a 2-hp Minerva engine made in Belgium

Now anyone whos been riding and wrenching for any length of time has certainly heard the Clymer name from the ever popular and still published Clymer manuals. But, not too many know of the man behind the Clymer Manual that has a manual on most every bike ever made...

...when we need a handy bit of info on our quad carb set up for our old GSX750. We turn to the handy Clymer Manual and thank Floyd for his tenacity..."

With the recent release of M426 covering the VRSC Series (see the MySpace Pic albums) Clymer coverage for H-D is extended to 2007. In 2007 we also released a completely updated and revised manual for one of Clymer's all time best selling manuals: M429-5 covering 86-03 Sportsters. We could have rested on our laurels with this one, but this title is now in our Black and Gold format and features many things we have learned about the Sportster lineup over the years and couldn't show in the old one. This title followed our M427-1 release covering the latest gen. Sportster models.

We are often asked when we are going to have titles for 2006, 2007 and 2008 Baggers, Softails and Dynas. Well, as you can see, we have been busy and rest assured there is a new series of titles SPECIFIC to these three lines coming.
Check our MySpace page for updates.
