Wind/Brass octet score (2011) by Donald Sosin. Video used with permission of Lobster Films. Premiered by members of the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra, Feb. 2011. This recording is a synth track, not the live version, due to union restrictions. It is accurate as far as tempo, synch with the film, and the actual notes go, as well as some of the flavor of the articulation and feel, but a number of the swing passages are not played as such here. Many of the notes do not sound at their proper value, i.e. staccato quarters sound as full quarters, etc. The excellent San Francisco musicians, directed by Ben Simon, played this film four times with great success.
