I live here,in playa del carmen,Quintana Roo,near to akumal,aprox 40 min.And yes,is the paradise...

its so awsome there. 20 yards from the shore theirs alot of huge turtles.
i was there 3 months ago.

i caught one of the baracudas well i was deep sea fishing, we were hoping for a grouper but these were delisiously cooked by the local resturant. well on the trip you can catch 1 of 7 its kinda the weathers choice, the guy told us about the biggest fish hes ever caught it took 4 hours to reel in and it was huge!! fed the whole village!

Well maybe we can hook up when we come to Akumal...Like I said Erica has never been there and I am taking her to some places between Playa and Tulum.....Will throw my camera and case in the bag in case the turtles are around......Where are you guys from?

We were supposed to stay at the ABR in Sept but it was hit by the hurricane so we had to stay at the Bahia Principe Akumal (too big, awful beach). This is our 4th trip in 2 years and the first time in the Akumal area so we are staying in the area. Stayed twice at Sandos Playacar...loved it, great beach. Snorkeling is better in Akumal though.

Hope they are there for you.....They were just fifty yards out when we were there and it seemed everywhere you looked there was one or two around...Will you guys be heading upto Playa at all...I know we are going down to Tulum for a day or two while we are there....Also will be stopping in Akumal so Erica can check it out...Her first trip not staying at an AI......We are at Hotel Pension San Juan in Playa.....

Was it a grouper? We just got back from Playa but spent alot of time in the Siian Ka-an reserve and dod not get to Akumal....Did have a friend go to Akumal and she said that there were alot of turtles and all kinds of fish in the bay.....I look forward to checking it out when we go back in July.......
