Funny scene from the second episode of Caprica. Daniel Graystone taught his robot a nice trick.

  • Tauronian language's syntax is predominantly ancient Greek, but its vocabulary is both ancient and modern Greek. Examples: Ancient Greek words: χαίρε (hello), θεράπων (minister), όντινα (whomever), όρχεις (testicles). Modern Greek: γειά μας (cheers), ελάτε (come), νονός (godfather). Both ancient and modern (same word in both languages): αίμα (blood), δίκη (justice), νόθος (bastard), αδελφός (brother)...

  • @LLamonas ah but you have too remember they are not greek, they are the ancestors of ancient greeks and rest of the ancient world, so they can get away with alot of words that doesnt sound right.

  • RIP Serge. He had a heroic send-off. ;)

  • Yes, they actually speak in Greek...or at least they try to...

The first time I heard them speak I wasn't sure if it was greek or not...it is a mix of ancient Greek with modern Greek and some words sound Latin and Jewish.

The accent is awful btw. I like that they have used greek as their language but they should practice a lot more before using it....they sound pretty phony (like a drunk turist on a greek island trying to order some food from a tavern)

  • i love how serge gets scared or jumps when Daniel makes the shot.

  • The crowd goes fracking wild, sir.

    I love it!

  • @WoundedWolfgirl

I'll ask my cousin. Greek by way of her ex - husband. Who knows ?

  • @knoxvilleguy2 Ahhh, okay, I can see that.

  • @WoundedWolfgirl

The Tauron could just sound Greek / Greco - Roman. Just like when they made up a language for Stargate & Stargate SG - 1 that sounded Egyptian. They hired a linguist for the movie & series to do that. Tauron might be a kind of " brokeback " Greek or Latin.

  • @knoxvilleguy2 I thought they just made up the Tauron language for the show. Is it actually Greek? Linguistics is not my forte.
