We spoke about ordering our birth kit, when to, how much, where from, what it contains. And for those of your curious, this is what our birth kit will contain and if your even MORE curious u can visit this website we were given to order it from for more information:
www.inhishands.com
4 Alcohol Prep Pads
4 Lubricating Jelly Packets
Bulb Syringe
2 Flexible Straws
2 Gauze Sponges
Paper Tape Measure
Peri-Bottle
Herbal Bath Mixture
Birth Certificate (Which yes it will say HOME and have our home address unlike born at BLAH HOSPITAL)
15 Underpads
Small Doppler Gel Tube
Infant Hat
10 Sterile Gloves
Cord Clamp
4 oz Bottle Olive Oil
Scrub Brush
4 Adult Diaper/Depends
Bed Pan-Mauve

This FOR ME has to be ordered by the 34th week, for most expecting Moms it's 36 weeks.

Our birthing classes start April 28th, they are every Tuesday from 7:00-9:30 pm...Yes Jace will attend, she HAS to. No where to go.

We can SAFELY & LEGALLY deliver at home any time beyond 36 weeks!!! So unlike most ob/gyns the go point for US is Week 36 I cook my babies fast ;) she said. We MIGHT but hopefully not, Sarah said, do another ultrasound closer to this time to check his breathing and what have you as a precautionary measure. Depends on what all I have going on really. But if we need to then we will. If no, then we won't. She said if I am PUSHING week 36 but not quite 36 weeks WE as in JOEL AND I get to call the shots on whether we proceed with giving birth at home or going to a hospital at that point. It will be our option though and that I LIKE! Because I DO NOT AT ALL WANT TO END UP IN A HOSPITAL! Talk about a waste of money for one.

Okay and back 2 our list... The things we are requested to have FOR BIRTH that are NOT included in our birthing kit:

  • What is the garlic for? I'm still reading the comments.......I love the name River. If we had a boy we wanted to name him Lake...so thoughts and prayers are with you ALL

  • I'm not sure. I know garlic can be used to treat/prevent/cure GBS before L&D, but not sure what the garlic is for FOR L&D?

  • wow! I applaud you for having a home birth! I also heard the same thing about massaging the perineum while pregnant and to kind of "stretch" it to prevent tearing. Since this is your 2nd birth, would you recommend the depends over regular pads?

  • Depends for the first week, especially if your a heavy bleeder, big clot passer. W/ my daughter I brought home the mesh panties and giant pads they give u at the hospital and wore them for the first 2 weeks at home, as store bought pads weren't enough but for one clot. Plus I don't think anyone owns panties big enough for the giant hospital pads, lol. But regular pads still come in handy once ur pass the initial first stage or two of the bleeding.

  • hi there,

i felt id reply to this blog, just to say WOW thats alot of stuff for a home birth.. im currently 21 weeks pregnant with no.5 our first girl after 4 lil boys! • OMG that is a huge list! It would be good to have that list at least a couple of months in advance so you can start buying things each week! I so admire you for having a home birth :)

  • They put that witch hazel on the pads and freeze them to help with swelling..When I had my daughter they put witch hazel on the pads and then put ice in them.

  • Where are you gonna put the birthing tub in your house?

  • Also use oliv oil can be used on your baby after bath. It works wonders for protecting the skin. I use it for my daughter. Also it's natural, I would recommend it for after a baby's bath instead of using baby oil which tends to dry the skin. I used baby oil on my daughter and she broke out in rashes. I don't know why?

  • the depends i think is 1 kind elastic and 1 kind with tape. we use something simular in the eldercare where i come from
